Prime Minister Harper 'Fine Tunes' His Cabinet

Save to delicious Saved by 0 users

This morning the following ministerial appointments were made in a minor cabinet shuffle described by the Prime Minister as 'fine tuning':

Stockwell Day - President of the Treasury Board

Vic Toews - Public Safety Minister

Christian Paradis - Minister of Natural Resources

Rona Ambrose - Minister of Public Works

Jean Pierre Blackburn - Minister of Veterans Affairs

Peter Van Loan - Minister of International Trade

Lisa Raitt - Minister of Labour

Keith Ashfield - Minister of National Revenue

Diane Ablonczy - Minister of State and Seniors

Rob Moore - Minister of State, Small Businesses, and Tourism

The most significant appointment and one that should encourage conservatives is that of Stockwell Day to President of the Treasury Board. If his background as Alberta's Finance Minister is any indication, this talented minister should be good at cutting spending on government programs as Treasury Board President. The biggest surprise and disappointment to many Conservatives was the exclusion of Maxime Bernier from cabinet, who despite the biker chick scandal, is the Conservative Party's star MP in Quebec.
