President Obama Announces July 2011 as Date for Defeat in Afghanistan

President Obama gives what will likely be remembered as the worst war-time speech in U.S. history at West Point Military Academy. Cadets watching the speech were falling asleep as President Obama sounded more like an absent-minded professor espousing vague platitudes instead of a resolute Commander-in-Chief carefully laying out a strategy for victory. While the President promised three quarters of the forty thousand troops requested by General McChrystal for operations in Afghanistan, he also declared a complete withdrawal of U.S. troops in July of 2011 thus assuring certain victory for the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Canada's Parliament has already decided that its troops in Afghanistan will withdraw in 2011.
